Euro 100 charge for late check only 1 hour after standard 12.30 check out - it was non negotiable and advised as "HOTEL POLICY" - more like a rip off
Cost of breakfast.... 35 euros Poor lifts Inept conceirge
Very central location, making it the perfect base from which to tour the city. Very spacious room (Junior Suite) with a huge and very comfortable bed.
On arrival late afternoon, the room was not ready. The room's safe did not work and, despite informing staff of this, nothing was done. Despite having a suite, there were no complimentary refreshments, such as tea and coffee, or the means to make any such drinks. The hotel is near a Metro station, so every time a Metro train passed, which was about every 4 minutes, including during the night, the floor and bed vibrated and there was a loud noise, thus ruining the experience of the great bed. The decor throughout the entire hotel was also shabby - it was clearly very grand many many years ago, but now has the appearance of a well-read book. All-in-all, not what one would expect of a 5-star hotel in Paris or anywhere for that matter, especially considering the cost of the suite, so disappointed and, whilst planning to return to Paris, I will not be staying here again.
The reception manager, Mr. Mattiew, was very helpful. The Superior room was too small but the manager helped finding us a bigger deluxe room. The location of the hotel was great.
The bathroom in room 450 was very cold. Also, the noises from Lift and people using lift was loud until very late at night. The room 450 needs improvement.
The location - it was right in the heart of Paris, close to everything that we wanted to visit. Also the staff were extremely helpful, booking restaurant tables for us and explaining where to catch sightseeing trips etc
Our room was too hot and the air-conditioning did not seem to make any difference.
The best about hte hotel is its location - just next to the Louvre, between two squares, walking distance to everything I wanted to visit (never took a taxi or any other kind of transport). The receptionists were English-speaking and nice and helpful. The room was spacey (stayed in a junior suit), as well as the bathroom, cosy and clean. In fact, everything in the room, as well as the service, could be compared to a 5* hotel (including the cosmetics in the bathroom). Plus, the free WiFi is a nice addition to all.
The hall and the corridors need renewing - the first impression of the hotel lowers ones expectations because of the old and a bit dirty common spaces in the hotel. Another thing, is that the air-conditioning was poorly working and it was a bit hot, but I just turned it off and opened the windows from time to time. Also, unpleasant surprice was the thinnes of the walls - I could hear every slam of a door and footsteps, however, no one really made noise, so I slept like a baby. One more thing about noise is that the windows of my room overlooked an inner yard and when opening the window there was a bussying sound from the air-conditioning or other machines. Overall, these were quite minor problems and didn't spoil my stay in the least!
The quality of the rooms, decoration, and space are far far less than shown in the pictures and indicated in the hotel desciption.
Concierge services are exceptional - special thanks to Eric, Remy, Magaly.
The views from the room were great. The location was perfect, near everything, and in a safe neighborhood.
The hotel has a great location for visiting the major sites of the city. I have stayed here before and chose the hotel for this trip because I was traveling with my mother and nine-year-old daughter, and it was their first time in Paris. The hotel is comfortable, and if booked in advance the rates are competative with other similar properties. The staff is great and the concierge staff can handle just about any questions or problems that one may encounter. Most of the major sites are within easy walking distance, or accessible by Metro, which is just outside the hotel. Great Location!
I liked the warm friendly staff, so nice, so patient with my, Je parle un per Francias. I cannot believe that Americans actually say that the Parisians are rude, maybe they should at least learn Bon Jour. I would return in a second, excellent Hotel. I almost do not want to give this secret away.
Very good location Beautiful view Old but clean Very friendly stuff
400 euro per night - not reasonable Poor sound insulation (between rooms and to outside) + metro Needs renovation
The staff are surly and incompetent. Their card machines would not work when we tried to check out, and they insisted our cards were the problem. Even when we reminded them we had been using our cards all day, they repeated this accusation, with a barely veiled suggestion that we were trying to leave without paying. Eventually there were three people on the front desk telling us it was not their machines. They demanded a copy of our credit cards and passports as 'that is the police procedure'. The manager was called down and he was absolutely useless. He said 'for me, it's simple - you cannot pay so..' We reminded him he wasn't a government agency and had no right to demand our identification, and had to ask him to apologise for the problem as clearly he did not see an apology as necessary. When he finally apologised, he ended with 'and we hope you come to stay in our hotel again'. Clearly, he didn't get it! We missed our Eurostar because of the hold-up and the end of the trip was ruined because of this. If you stay there you had better hope their card machines are working or they will basically call you poor thieves right there in the lobby. The facilities are dated but adequate. The bath in the deluxe room is not wide enough to fit an adult comfortably so you will be squashed in if you want one. Turn-down service is having the corner of the duvet turned over, with no message or chocolate or anything left. Your sheets are only changed if you remember to place this card on top of the bed which is just a way for them to screw you out of a clean bed and save on washing costs. The hotel is so disorganised that they never bothered to check that we had taken items out of the mini bar so we ended up not paying for them.
Great location great bed in junior suite
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I loved the hotel for it's old world French charm, fantastic location central to everything including sites and restaurants and the ease of jumping on the tour bus to see the city....would definitely stay there again!
